Sky Scan: every satellite above you, right now
Point your phone at the sky and Sky Scan labels every satellite above you in real time, worked out from each satellite's current orbit: SpaceX's Starlink, the International Space Station, China's Tiangong station, Amazon's Kuiper, OneWeb, Iridium, Planet's imaging satellites and more. Each one shows the company that runs it and, when it's listed, its stock ticker.
What was that line of lights in the sky?
A string of bright dots moving in a line is usually a Starlink "train": satellites launched together that haven't spread out yet. A single steady, bright moving star at dawn or dusk is often the ISS. Sky Scan shows which one it is.
How it works
- Allow your camera, compass and location (they stay on your device).
- Hold your phone up to the sky; labels follow the satellites as they move.
- No camera? The sky map shows the whole sky above you instead.
