Starlink Launches Per Year: 2019 to 2026 Counts

SpaceX flew 122 Starlink launches in 2025, up from 89 in 2024, per Launch Library 2. Counts for 2019 to 2026 with sources and the one-launch gap.

SpaceX flew 122 launches named Starlink in 2025, according to Launch Library 2 (LL2), up from 89 in 2024 and 63 in 2023, and 83 more through October 13, 2026. That made Starlink about 74% of SpaceX's 165 Falcon 9 launches in 2025 (my arithmetic). Space.com counted 123 Starlink missions for 2025, one more than LL2, and I could not explain the gap. All counts below are LL2's, read on October 13, 2026.

YearStarlink launches (LL2)Change from prior yearFailures
201920
202014+120
202117+30
202234+170
202363+290
202489+41%1
2025122+37%0

LL2 counts a launch as a Starlink launch when its name contains "Starlink", for example "Falcon 9 Block 5 | Starlink Group 17-5". The only failure in the series is Starlink Group 9-3 on July 12, 2024. The 2026 line is a partial year: 83 launches in 286 days is about 0.29 a day, which would be near 106 over a full year if the pace held (a simple extrapolation, not a forecast).

How this was checked#

  • Mid-2025 cross-check. Spaceflight Now reported on August 17, 2025 that the Starlink 17-5 flight was SpaceX's 72nd Starlink launch of the year and its 100th Falcon 9 launch of 2025. LL2's list gives 71 Starlink launches and 99 Falcon 9 launches through August 14, so with the August 17 flight the two agree.
  • 2025 total. LL2 lists 165 Falcon 9 launches in 2025, 122 of them named Starlink and 43 others. Space.com's year-end story says Starlink missions made up 123 of the 165 Falcon 9 launches, published on December 31, 2025. The totals match; the Starlink split differs by one launch, and I could not tell which launch is classified differently.
  • 2024. Space.com's December 2024 reporting that about two-thirds of SpaceX's 134 orbital launches were Starlink fits LL2's 89.

For 2019 to 2023 I have only LL2, so treat those years as a single-source count.

What the count does and doesn't mean#

  • Launches are not satellites. A Starlink launch carries a batch of satellites, so the launch count is a measure of cadence, not constellation size. For satellites, see our guide to how many Starlink satellites are in orbit and the live constellation tracker.
  • Almost all are Falcon 9 flights. Of the 424 launches in the full 2019 to 2026 series, 423 are Falcon 9 and one is a Starship flight whose LL2 name includes "Starlink". I did not check which year it falls in, so a year's count may include it.
  • Reliability is a separate question. One failure in 2024 and none since is a record worth reading with sample size in mind; see how to compare launch success rates fairly.
  • What flies after launch matters too. Satellites that reach orbit still maneuver and retire; SpaceX's own report is covered in our Starlink collision-avoidance guide.

FAQ#

Launch Library 2 lists 122 launches named Starlink in 2025, all successful. Space.com reported 123 Starlink missions among 165 Falcon 9 launches. The one-launch difference is likely classification, but I could not confirm that.

83 through October 13, 2026 per Launch Library 2, none of them failures.

89, including one failure (Starlink Group 9-3 on July 12, 2024), according to Launch Library 2.

It varies. The August 17, 2025 flight carried 24, according to Spaceflight Now, and Space.com says the 2025 Starlink launches lofted more than 3,000 satellites in total. Use the launch count for cadence and a satellite tracker for the numbers in orbit.

Where can I check these numbers?#

Launch Library 2 is a free public API (thespacedevs.com). Search it for launches with "Starlink" in the name and filter by date.
