Between SpaceX's first trading day on June 12, 2026 and October 13, 2026, Launch Library 2 lists 49 SpaceX launches, and all 49 are marked successful: 45 Falcon 9, 2 Falcon Heavy and 2 Starship flights. That is about 2.8 launches a week. KeepTrack's separate Falcon 9 list shows 44 Falcon 9 launches for June 12 through October 10, the same as Launch Library 2 for that span. Counts move every week, so treat every number here as dated October 13, 2026. This is research, not financial advice.
The count, by vehicle#
All figures are Launch Library 2 records for SpaceX launches from June 12, 2026 through October 13, 2026 (read October 13, 2026), with a second count from KeepTrack.
| Vehicle | Launches | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Falcon 9 | 45 | 27 Starlink, 18 for other customers |
| Falcon Heavy | 2 | Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope (August 30), NROL-97 (October 2) |
| Starship | 2 | Flight 13 (July 24) and Flight 14 (September 28, which carried Starlink satellites) |
| Total | 49 | All listed as successful |
Second source. KeepTrack's Falcon 9 page, read October 13, listed its most recent launch as October 10 and 44 Falcon 9 launches on or after June 12. Launch Library 2 has 44 Falcon 9 launches through October 10 as well; its 45th, a Starlink flight on October 13 at 00:28 UTC, is not in KeepTrack's list yet. The two sources agree. I did not find a second source that counts Falcon Heavy and Starship in the same window, so those four rest on Launch Library 2 alone.
What "since the IPO" means here. SpaceX's final prospectus was filed on June 12, 2026 (SEC EDGAR), and SPCX's first trading day was June 12 on Nasdaq. A Starlink Group 10-54 launch was recorded that day at 12:37 UTC, which is before the 13:30 UTC US market open, so it is included in the count; leave it out and the total is 48.
Cadence: roughly one launch every 2.6 days#
| Month (2026) | SpaceX launches |
|---|---|
| June 12-30 | 9 |
| July | 13 |
| August | 14 |
| September | 8 |
| October 1-13 | 5 |
Source: Launch Library 2, all vehicles, read October 13, 2026; monthly splits are our own tally.
- The average gap between launches was about 2.6 days, with the longest gap, 8.2 days, between the October 2 Falcon Heavy NROL-97 flight and the October 10 SDA launch.
- September was the slowest full month at 8 launches against 13-14 in July and August. The listing data does not say why, and I have not verified a cause, so read it as a pattern in the count rather than an explanation.
- Starlink made up 27 of the 45 Falcon 9 launches (60%). The other 18 carried customer payloads including NROL-179, SDA Tranche 1 Transport Layer E and A, USSF-153, USSF-259, USSF-366, USSF-385, Crew-13, two Transporter rideshares, BlueBird satellites and Globalstar.
For the longer view, SpaceX's own and tracker counts by quarter are in SpaceX Launch Schedule: How to Read It, and per-year Starlink totals are in Starlink launches per year.
Outcomes: how to read "49 for 49"#
Launch Library 2 marks all 49 launches as successful. Two cautions apply:
- Trackers decide case by case what counts as a failure, and Starship flights are test flights where a "success" can mean meeting some objectives but not others. Our guide Launch Success Rates explains why one tracker's tally can differ from another's.
- The Falcon 9 record behind these 45 launches is long. As of October 4, 2026, KeepTrack listed 2 Falcon 9 failures across 692 attempts, so a clean four months is what the history would lead you to expect, not a break from it.
SPCX around launch days#
Martian Alpha's launch-reaction dataset compares SPCX's move after each SpaceX launch with the S&P 500 over the same days. Each reaction runs from the last close before the launch to the close of the first session after it, so a launch after the close counts on the next session. Read October 13, 2026 from the State of Space Equities report dataset, covering launches since June 12:
| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Launches counted in the dataset | 47 (all successes) |
| Average next-trading-day move, net of the S&P 500 | -0.23% |
| Average five-trading-day move, net of the S&P 500 | -1.00% |
Two points about reading this table:
- Our count is 47, not 49. The dataset uses its own launch list and needs price windows around each launch, so it can differ from Launch Library 2's total by a few. I have not reconciled the two missing launches one by one.
- An average near zero is not evidence of a pattern. Earnings, financings, index news and the stock's first months of trading all move SPCX on the same days. A four-month sample cannot separate those from launches. See Do Space Stocks Move After a Launch? for the method and its limits.
What to watch next#
- The calendar. Upcoming SpaceX missions and their no-earlier-than dates are on the free launch calendar, and each provider's record is in the Launch Reliability Scorecard.
- The company page. SPCX's quote, filings and recent events are on its company page.
- Cadence. Re-check the monthly table above against the tracker; a slow or fast month shows up in the launch count before it shows up in any quarterly report.
Track it on Martian Alpha#
The launch calendar, the reliability scorecard and the rocket specifications page are free, and the State of Space report records launch slips, reliability and stock reactions each quarter. A free account adds a watchlist (2 tickers) with news alerts, so SPCX and a launch provider such as Rocket Lab can sit side by side.
FAQ#
How many launches has SpaceX done since its IPO?#
As of October 13, 2026, Launch Library 2 lists 49 SpaceX launches since the June 12, 2026 listing: 45 Falcon 9, 2 Falcon Heavy and 2 Starship. KeepTrack agrees on 44 Falcon 9 launches through October 10.
Has a SpaceX launch failed since the IPO?#
Not according to Launch Library 2, which marks all 49 as successful. Trackers differ on how they classify test flights and partial failures, so check the tracker's rules.
How often does SpaceX launch?#
About 2.8 launches a week between June 12 and October 13, 2026, or one every 2.6 days on average. Monthly counts ranged from 8 in September to 14 in August.
Does SPCX stock move after SpaceX launches?#
In Martian Alpha's dataset, SPCX's average move after a successful launch was -0.23% the next trading day and -1.00% over five days, net of the S&P 500, across 47 launches. That is a small, short sample, and other news on the same days is not removed.
Is this investment advice?#
No. It is a count of launches and a description of one dataset, not a recommendation about SPCX or any other security.
